My Story

The Story of the Fern of the Vale

Long ago, a fern planted its roots in a valley between two mighty mountains. As it grew, its roots became stronger, dug deeper, and spread further. It became part of the planet’s network — sharing nutrients, exchanging energy, and communing with the slow living things of the earth.

As the world turned and churned, the fern felt the constant tremors of transformation. The mountains grew taller, and crept closer together as tectonic plates converged. The valley was growing thinner, and sunlight became sparse. The fern found its stalk becoming weak, and the brilliant green of its fronds began to fade as the sun disappeared earlier and earlier each day.

The fern began digging its roots deeper. Its fronds grew even more brown as the fern used every last bit of its energy to expand beneath the earth. Just when it thought it might give up, the global root network bolstered the fern with nutrients. The energy from young flora in sun-soaked gardens and the oldest, tallest trees of the world flowed into its roots as they continued to wade through the darkness. Soon, the fern had enough energy to grow once again, and even began strengthening the roots of the flora in the vale and that of flora many miles away, graciously balancing the energetic exchange.

The fern of the vale became so strong, the mountains could not converge any further. The valley flourished as the mountains rested. And though the fern only sees the sun in fleeting moments, it joyfully unfurls its fronds even in darkness, welcoming the warm, life-giving light of the day and the deep, reflective darkness of the night.

About Me
Amber Cunningham-Brail
Folk Herbalist

From a young age, I've felt called to help others. And each time I've resisted that call in any way, life's had a funny way of getting me back on my heart's path. In following my strong passion for spiritual practice and mental/emotional healing, this is the work that brings me home to self, and I'm honored to share in healing with you.

Herbalism has been a part of my life since I was a child. I always felt a pull to make my own little "potions" out in the backyard. I began investing more time into researching and using herbs as both physical and energetic medicine in my early 20s, and now want to share what I've come to know and experience with our plant allies.

Each of the blends I've crafted have undergone what I call "energetic testing." I have personal experiences with each of my creations, have passed them along to friends and family where appropriate, and I'm so thrilled that they've made their way to your hands.

I identify with the label "Folk Herbalist" because of my approach to herbs. I am not a doctor of herbal medicine, nor do I think herbs are the cure for everything. I do not offer medical advice, nor do I think herbs are a comparable replacement for pharmaceuticals. I heavily research drug interactions and potential side effects in studies, and only craft with herbs I am confident with.

There is no end to learning about herbs, and I certainly do not purport to be an expert. What you see here is what I know in the here and now, and all products are subject to reformulation should new and improved knowledge come along.

Thank you for being here. I'm so delighted to share my creations with you.
